The brain is where it's at.

This project, I must say, was one of the funner projects I've had the pleasure of doing. The progress I've made over the past week has led me to this.

Richmond: Highlighting life, love and reality

Ok, for this weeks 'Irreverent Jargon' installment, I have included some images that I gathered while taking a leisurely stroll down Broad St. in the lovely city of Richmond, Virginia. For anyone who has not had the pleasure of living in or visiting RVA then I hope that these 5 images give you a little insight into what the city's style is like. It's not the glitz and glamor that attracts me to the city; it's the griminess and decrepit buildings and worn out sidewalks that I find beautiful. The little things that the city has proceeded to over look and seem to give up on. With a little help from photoshop I was able to enhance these images to the best of my ability. Please take a gander and I hope you all enjoy!

My cereal inquisition

Greetings! I am here for another installment of my irreverent jargon. Today, I would like to discuss something I consider very near and dear to me. if you couldn't conclude from the title, it is indeed cereal! Ya know, whenever I am at the grocery store, I always find myself spending 5 solid minutes down the cereal isle aimlessly staring at the treat that is Post cereal. I can never decide! Shall it be 'Cookie Crisp' or 'Apple Jacks' or am I feeling a bit healthy today and should I decide to go with 'Crispix'? I can never seem to make a logical and quick decision when it comes to my favorite dish. BUT, and I emphasize this 'BUT', I WILL NEVER EAT 'KASHI'! That's right, I will never ever eat 'Kashi' or let it even have the privilege of being within my sight while quizzically staring down the isle. Why you may ask?
The reason for this irreverent rant is because the other night I ran into a good friend who was carrying a box of 'Kashi'. I chuckled and looked at them and asked "Kashi"? They preceded to explain that the reason for 'Kashi' is because it's a healthy alternative to cereal eating. Bullshit! Well, I don't doubt that it is indeed much healthier for you than most cereal options, but come on people, 'Kashi'!? Not necessary, I say. Cereal is something you should want to enjoy, not feel forced to consume for simply health benefits. Ya know, last time I checked 'Apple Cinnamon Cheerios' has a shit ton of Calcium and a good source of fiber and it tastes soo fucking good! Even some of the plainest cereals are enjoyable and healthy. For example, 'Kix.' "Kid Tested and Mother Approved". Fuck yea it is. I test that shit all the time and approve of it. Any type of 'Chex', whether it be Corn or Rice (or even, if you're daring, 'honey Chex') is delicious!
To sum up this pointless blog, I have come to the conclusion that 'Kashi' is the type of cereal one will give a shot, especially if you would like to lose some unwanted pounds and start your day off better than if you sucked down some donuts or bacon and eggs, but in all reality, in a week or 2 you will be completely burnt out on this cardboard-esque cereal. Don't be fooled health nuts. I've maintained good health and I've been on a steady 'Lucky Charms' diet for the past month. In the meantime, have fun eating that 'Kashi'. The only thing you will accomplish after eating some 'Kashi' is a successful bowel movement. Truth.

Surfer Lingo

I don't know where to begin with this one. I will volunteer myself to give this poor schmuck a public speaking lesson. Better yet, I'll give him speech lessons in exchange for some crucial "pitting". Also, he needs to teach me how to make rad sound effects. I am a bit jealous of those. Very authentic.

fuck the naysayers

When it comes to the people that know me, there is one thing that I make no hesitation to hide and that is my love for the band 311. Ever since I have been a fan, which was at the age of 11, I've been ragged on countless times for liking "such a lame band". Well, I never let it get to me. One thing 311 has always stood by is brushing of the negative vibes others spew out and to be your own person and that is one thing I have religiously stood by. During a climate of late 90's and early 21st century rock music, there was a heightened theme of depression and gloom with every prevailing modern rock band. You had Korn, Limp Bizkit (however the fuck you spell it), Slipknot and other depressing ass music. The lyrics were swamped with negativity and malice. 311, who has been a band since the late 80's, changed up the lyrical content and started writing lyrics geared towards staying happy and being positive about the things we have. Why do we need to feel upset while listening to our favorite music? It's not plausible. This off-the-beaten-path approach to making music successfully worked out for them and it successfully converted me to becoming a fan. Ever since the first 311 album I bought, 99's Soundsystem, I have been a huge fan traveling to see them perform live. This past weekend on October 24th I was able to see them for the 8th time in Charlottesville, Virginia and was finally able to capture some close range images of the band at their finest. Hope you all enjoy!
